Hey,

I've been writing hubs and linking them back to my main site to build back links, but as I learn more about this I'm realizing that having too many backlinks from the same place isn't very good. Right now I have 11 backlinks from my hubpages acct. Is this too many? Should I delete some and go for other sources?
thanks, Rob

don't delete them - you're fine. However, it is better to backlink from different sites.

No need to delete them (11 is an incredibly small # actually) just add links from other sources. Plenty of choices (this forum and others), blogs, profile links etc etc etc

Build a 1000 Hubpages. Still its not too many!

And remember to be above 75 hubscore - then only your links becomes dofollow. Good hubs are always (only good hubs) good for backlinks and traffic (even for adsense revenue).

But if you look at this process closely - anyway, you are going to write the hub yourself (its no more copy paste at hubs). At least you are going to alter/edit some one else's post. So if you buy a domain name and create a blog - these posts can be there and you will get more benefits (definitely more than the hubs can give you).

Also adsense revenue sharing is on a 50-50 basis on hubs. So now its highly recommended to run own blogs.

According to me the only advantage at hubpages.com is - if it require 100% effort to promote your own blog - at hubpages it require a 70% only.

I was having many hubs before. Later I deleted lots of them (coz all were written or well edited by me) and posted in my own blog. My only connection with hubpages now is - I have a few sales pages there like Search Engine Optimization Methods (100% sales pages - which looks like helpful information - so they wont get deleted! )

Just diversify your backlinks. With 11 hubpages that isn't really that much. No matter how many backlinks you build it will help you.

However it will help you a lot more if you build pages at squidoo, infobarrel, livejournal, etc as well as hubpages to get some diversity.

Definitely start building backlinks on other sites, Google is going to count the backlinks for a lot less if they're from the same site. But at the end of the day, having a lot of backlinks from the same site doesn't hurt you, judging the fact that you built them over a long enough range of time
