Hi Guys

Im new to seo and have been trying to rank for keyword for the last 1 and ahalf months. I have good on page factors and im building links etc.

Im from the uk so when i go to google it brings the .co.uk version. Im looking to rank for the .com version so i have a add on that lets me look at the .com version of google and see were i am in the rankings.

I checked my keyword last night on .co.uk and i was sitting at number 5 spot and number 3 spot over in .com

I checked my keywords again today and im sitting at number 1 on .co.uk

The thing i dont understand is when i now go to google.com im sitting at number 3 still but when i click search again on google.com i am sitting at number 1.

So am i number 1 in google.com or not for this keyword ?

Cheers

Chris

Step 1: Go to WorldProxy202 US.

Step 2: Go to Google.com through the proxy.

Step 3: Search your targeted keyword.

That should help you confirm your position.

Yea i use the global firefox extension, but it must mess with the listings as when i go google.com through the firefox extension and then press the search button again im sitting at number 1 when in fact im still number 3 when i use that proxy.

Another thing, how come i can beat my competition in .co.uk but cant beat them on .com yet ? they have excatly the same websites in both versions of google

      Hi chris187,

Yes, the same websites, but different data centers. The backlink data contained in those two separate databases are likely different and may account for the different rankings. Additionally, geo-targeting plays a role, if your server is located in the UK and more of your backlinks are from UK locations that would bias your listing within the UK data centers.

It varies regionally even so. My site ranks differently in the US and Canada, UK and Australia.

Surely its a good sign tho that im beating them in uk listings, so it shouldnt be long till i beat them in .com What do you guys think ? I have links being found everyday by google and i have some PR's getting down just now.
