I been at page2 for about a week and it just suddenly disappears from the SERP. I did a site:mydomain.com and I can still see it but when i do a broad search, i only see my site map at page15 and don't see my main site even at page50. Any1 has any idea what happened here?

    No one can even being to give you any sort of decent answer on this unless you tell us:

    (1) how old the domain is;
    (2) how long have you been backlinking the site; and
    (3) how heavy have you been backlinking that site.

    Without knowing this it's like trying to throw darts at a bee.

        Tom my site is about 2 weeks old and i done a few backlinks so far, i believe the total count is less than 15 for this 2 weeks. I done some articles, forum and blog commenting. I am now confused as my site map is at page15 when i cant even find my main site. The main site used to be at page 2

          That's your answer there. I was assuming that was the case, but wanted to make sure.

          here is the issue, sometimes Google ranks new sites (and new pages) high in google (like on page 1 or 2) right out of the gates solely due to "freshness".

          That is, if I put up a new site and it ranks well out of the gate, I shouldn't assume that the site really is worthy of that ranking in Google's eyes. it is merely google putting a new site up high. It happens all the times and I would say the majority of my sites have this happen to them. Sometimes new sites can bounce new sites can bounce around crazily. I've had a new site show up on page 1 in the first week, and then to be around #200 for awhile. With adequate backlinks, it all works out in the end.

          Then, you start adding backlinks and the site shoots back as Google re-evaluates the true worth of the site. Unfortunately, that is just the nature of the beat. Just keep on building backlinks, and don't assume that Google really thought your site deserved that placement. View it instead as a quick little glimpse into the hopeful future of your site after you build more backlinks to it.

              Its nothing to be worried about. Your site is 2 weeks old Some domains aren't even indexed at all after 2 weeks.

              I've had a recent new site where i've been heavily backlinking an inner page for the first month of the site's history. Guess which page on the site ranked highest after 4 weeks? The "About" page.

              Keep on backlinking and don't follow the daily (or evenly weekly, to be honest) changes.

                  I would link to any pages on your site that you want to rank for. At this stage, I wouldn't just throw around likes to other pages just for diversity purposes.

    Tom is right, don't stop the backlinking effort until you're at about 3 months.

    At which time, the ranking will solidify (sort-of).

    Remember, mix it up!
