Most of such tools are based on average or top bid costs for adwords.

This is often not a direct reflection of what you will earn as price competition is less for the Display Network.

I find that mid-level keywords make me the most in the long term. I never did make as much from my California Attorney or mesothelioma sites as i did from some other $1-$10 CPC sites.

Saying that, getting a the occasional $30 click is nice (:

Looking at top priced keywords, it makes you wonder how much do those professionals like Attorneys behind those services that pay $70 per click actually earn.

Remember the CPC is derived from the search network
It is highly unlikely that you will be paid the same in the content network
ie. Since no one really knows the percentage that is paid to publishers, there may be a difference between payouts from search and content.
Assuming that higher paying keywords will result in high payouts in the content network may be misleading as there is often much more factors involved.

Actually Google published the rate they share with publishers last month and it is 68% for The Content Netword and somewhere around 58%+/- (I don't remember) for their search network. But that is of the revenue they get, not the CPC which is for AdWords on the search engine. Cost on The Content Network is much less.
