Smart Pricing on your account is frequently reviewed (I've read weekly), and is an automatic process. The decision is based on the quality of leads you send via your ads. If you've been smart priced then it's entirely possible to get your CPC back to normal.

  • Smart pricing occurs when the quality of your traffic isn't meeting Google's standards.

If you are setting up an information website that brings its income from Adsense, it is vital to ensure that Smart Pricing is miles away from your account.

How? By focusing your marketing efforts on websites Google trusts. Primarily, Google trusts itself. The key to keeping your cpc up is by focusing on bringing in traffic organically.

Don't bother bringing in traffic from social media sites, whether it be digg, facebook, etc... They are the death of niche websites all together.

It makes total sense :-), What would Google rather see? A visitor coming from Google Search Results based off of a relevant keyword, or a random digg viewer who jumps on to the site (more often than not) with the intention to just browse around and leave.
