I post on another forum where I have over 1000 posts

Can anyone tell me if I change my signature / link does that mean that I can get say 1000 back links straight away for my new signature?

Thanks in advance for any help / advice!

First, are the sig links at the forum you are talking about nofollow links?

The quick answer is to open up one of the pages with the signature on it, view the source code for that page, and see if there is a "rel=nofollow" note within the anchored link. IF there is, then its no follow. If there isn't, its not no follow.

I highly recommend you get a firefox plugin though that will show you the nofollow links on the page though. I use the SEO Quake firefox plugin, although there are several that do it. when activated, the plugin will draw a strikethrough line all no-follow links on the page.

As to your original post, if you update you signature, yes, it typically gets filtered through to all of the posts (that you had put a signature on previously) on that forum. It's not always the case though, so you need to test it.

I use the DoNofollow plugin for FF. A lot less load time for everything, though SEOQuake rocks, I have that too. Only problem with it is that if I use it too much the search engines get pissed off at me.
