Advice Wanted Please For Higher Search Engine Ranking

Hi all

I would just like to ask for some advice to try and get some more backlinks to my site to hopefully boost my search engine position higher. I am not an internet marketer or anything or don't sell any products etc, but simply want to promote my construction site further where I provide a service.

At the moment I am doing OK, as I am on the first page of google for all my keywords that I am targeting but I am not NO1 and would like to try and reach the top position if possible.

I also have a blog for my main website and try to keep the content updated every other day and also submit some articles to a few directories, Ezine, go articles and article dashboard.

I have just bookmarked some of my posts with a couple of social bookmarking sites and was wondering if doing more of this would help my search engine rankings.

I was just going to do this manually to 3 or 4 sites perhaps. Please can someone advise the best social bookmarking sites to target. I am not bothered about getting lots and lots of traffic unless it is targeted traffic and from people who live local to my area as I only provide my construction service locally. I am really after higher rankings in google.

Any advice on how to get to NO1 on google appreciated.

I am currently ranking between no 2 and no 8 for all my main 6 keywords.

Thank you

Press releases are a must, and i think profile backlinks are still powerful.I have 21 sites in competitive niches and all are ranking on the first page with 5 of them holding the no 1 spot.If you ask me how I got it ,its very simple:submit 4 articles daily to the top article directories, press releases atleast twice in a month, build 300 profile backlinks in a month.Thats it and dont forget to update your website daily.

Another important thing to remember is not to submit to the same article directories.

It sounds like, content-wise, you're doing well. I'm not sure if social bookmarking would help if you're targeting super-local traffic.

One thing I would suggest is to find some local forums in your area, if that's what you're really looking to target. A signature can get you backlinks, and get more local eyes on your link. We have some of those forums where I live, and there are all kinds of business owners who post there on a regular basis - not just to promote their business, but also to comment on the local goings-on. If people in your area get to know you, you have a better shot at getting them to visit your site.

Lots of answers to this one, none of them certain.

except maybe one: backlinks work. The more the better, and the better they are, the better. Relevant ones seem particularly useful. But just be prepared to slave over it for months.
