Well, I'm getting there, I think. I've managed to reach the following...

...on page one of Google.

I am basically focusing on 3 keywords.

Keyword 1 = position 8
Keyword 2 = position 6
Keyword 3 = position 4

It's been slow going, but I've made some substantial improvement with a couple of techniques I've recently learned about SEO.

I also added a couple of new pages today that I think might help. It will probably take a few days to see the impact.

Anyhow, I guess my message is to stick with it. I've been at it for about seven months now doing everything myself - articles (2-3 press releases), backlinks (I use Paul's and Joe's), and a couple of my own blogs that are related to the site.

To be clear, this is a physical product that is produced by my wife, not affiliate or info products. However, I sincerely believe that the process would work with anything if you are willing to put in the time and effort.

Keep doing what you've been taught to do and you will eventually see results. Only those that stray or get distracted too easily/often will fail, in my opinion.

Right on Tom. Patience, putting in effort everyday and getting rid of distractions are the key to success in my view also in SEO and IM.

Congrats on the rankings so far and they should keep improving for you as you keep up the effort.

      Shane,

Yep. I do a little more of the same every single day. And, I've actually taken a couple steps to move into dabbling with a few products at Clickbank. I've built a couple of sites, written a couple of articles, and built a couple of links to those. I'm seeing movement in them, but haven't spent the time on them yet. My primary goal right now is get my wife's site in the top 3 for the keywords I'm targeting. Once those get there, I'll put in the time and effort on the others.

      I appreciate your reply.

You are in the same boat as my partner and I. Primarily promote or own product/service ahead of our affiliate sites. Something so much more rewarding when it is your own true product and much easier to dedicate the time and energy needed.

Yes, we've been profitable since the day the site launched. But the goal is to become number one as soon as possible. If I can get the site to number one and show the monthly revenue numbers that will come with it, we should be able to sell the site and brand for several million up front plus and annual retainer for new products. That's the plan, at least.

I'll certainly let you all know when I get there.

Have you tried WebCEO? The free version of this tool is actually quite good and very insightful. Just following the tool's advice for on-site SEO changes can drive a site to the top 5 spots on Google for long tail keywords.

I used WebCEO to improve the SEO for Helioza.com pages (one of my publishing sites) and for other sites I operate. What I like most is that it took concepts I already knew and pulled them together into a cohesive plan. Now all the bits and pieces I learned over the years make sense.

I'm still too new to post a link to WebCEO - it is a .com site - just search for it.
