I was wondering if anyone can clue me in on the different domains available for my niche I am trying to rank for?

Which site would be best:

.com;.net;.net;.org;.biz

Or does it really not matter?

Thanks for any input.

this question has been answered so many times before... however many people says that .com .net .org (in that order) are the best choices, yet there is no guarantee that your domain will perform well if your keyword is not on it...

For example if your niche is dog training (yeah... today my creative juices are sleeping) which site do you think that would rank better on google's eyes?

    myfidopuppy.com or dogtrainingtips.info

    the first one? guess again

This debate comes up now and then on WF, i have personally tested .com-.net-.org-.info and .biz
I put allot of work into my .info and .biz sites my conclusion avoid them, the .info site is an exact keyword match(has the keywords i am trying to rank for in the domain name and low competition <28000) and has over 100 backlinks PR0 to PR4 and it's getting outranked by .coms with less than 20 backlinks. (Same PR and Domain Age)

Same with the .biz site, now some people may argue that they are doing well with .info and .biz but i would love to know how?
My .nets are doing well and the .orgs are not to bad either, but the .coms are by far the best TLD's.
Remember to include your keyword/s in the domain name, they rank much better and require less SEO work.

    (1) .COM
Only after you have tried all possible variations of .com with your keyword
    (2) .NET
    (3) .ORG

    Absolutely Not
    .INFO and .BIZ

PS! Don't forget .CO is coming July 20, i am hoping they are going to shake
things up a bit, Ed Dale already has his .CO (Don't know how he managed that?)

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

There are MANY others here who have .info doing VERY well in the ranking and for higher competition then you.

      Go figure!

In addition to what's already been discussed, I'd like to add that .COM domain names are just better around... especially when it comes to "word of mouth" advertising.

    Simple reason for that too.

Pretty much everyone, whether they're active on their computers or not, has been conditioned by all kinds of advertising to link ".COM" with "website".

So if for example you registered a .info because the .com was already taken... unless the person clicks your link right away... they'd probably just forget the less common extension - and type in the .com out of habit.

    Just somethin to think about

I often buy .info domains fowarded to affiliate links to use as direct linking on PPC campaigns or article marketing, I know is a lazy way and it hasn't anything to do with search engines or the OP thread...

If you got information site then .info would be good choice and with proper SEO any domain extension can rank well.
