Companion ad network to pair with Adsense?

Using Adsense and it's doing quite well. Trying to better optimize all the time, of course.

I'm wondering what experience you all might have with putting up ads from other ad networks. I put up a few ads from 247Realmedia the other day and my Adsense payments dove precipitously.

Ironically the Adsense CTR stayed almost exactly level - but the payouts per click were cut in half or worse.

So I backed that out completely.

Do Adsense payments per click get cut if you put up ANY ad network alongside them?

I seem to recall their TOS asks you not to put up context-sensitive ads, which I read to mean competitive offerings from Bing, Yahoo, etc.

But what about the larger display networks like Tribal Fusion, Glam, 247, etc.?

Anyone have any advice for pairing a display network with Adsense?

    I make a bit from Kontera - it's a good fit with Adsense. The problem is they appear to have a chronic lack of quality advertisers and I'm getting very low value clicks. Maybe some niches are better than others.

      I've also heard that pop-understand don't seem to piss off Adsense.
