Best Tools for Assessing Competitor Keywords

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anybody has any good advice on how to best study the SEO strategies my competitors.

I've taken a glance at SEMRUSH, and Market Samurai. Would you guys say these are good for that task, or recommend any other methods/software/sites?

I've found the free version of Traffic Travis pretty useful for assessing competiton

I am adding up 2 very simple yet powerful free tools, Great Google and Yahoo. Just type intitle/allintitle:your sites main keywords in Google, you will get list of your prominent competitors. Pick up each competitor URL one at a time; analyze their backlinks with the help of yahoo site explorer. Then try to get similar backlinks. How's the idea? Feel free to incorporate more suggestions here.

I have found Traffic Travis to be very useful. For the price, FREE, you can't hardly beat it.

You can see how many backlinks a competitor has, where (some) of them are, and what keywords they are using by searching for their URL at Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch.
