made a mistake with domain name, can redirect?

Hi,

This is now the 2nd time that I have done this. Spent a week or more working out what I would like to create my website on, got all the keywords that I wanted, decided on a domain name and then after a week or so have realised that I should have used different keywords in the domain name.

This is only my 2nd site and I am expecting to make quite a few more mistakes before I get any good at this, but what I am wondering is whether I can registered another domain name and just have it redirect to the same content on the site that I have already built, or would this been seen as duplicate content and ruin everything?

At the minute I don't actually have any traffic going to it as I am still in the process of writing content and creating backlinks.

    You will see no benefit in redirecting traffic away from your desired domain towards the undesired domain. The search engines will only index the undesired domain. Instead move your content to the desired domain name and redirect any traffic from the undesired domain towards your desired domain.

    If your hosting package permits, you may be able to add your desired domain to your existing site as an alias domain.

    You most certainly can set up 301 redirects on the domains you will not be using, however, it won't do much if you have an empty link profile for both.

    Good on you though for being selective about keywords from the get-go. Many webmasters overlook the importance of selecting the right keyword(s) and then sticking with it. The initial selection stage is one of the most important from a SEO standpoint.
