New WP Syndication Plugin - Safe To Use On An Established Site?

Hi all,

I just got a new WP plugin that syndicates your content on various other web2.0 sites (all legit).

I am wondering if I start using this on an established site of mine (Which has plenty of content but few ranks), whether Google will start to see this influx of new links and penalize it?

Is it safe to syndicate my posts on an established site?

Thanks

    What is the plugin name?

    What is your site URL?

Without that info it makes it very difficult to answer.

  • Personally, I don't believe in syndicating the content of my site. I want my sites to be the ONLY site where people can read my original posts. Even when I submit articles to ezinearticles.com and other submission sites, I write a brand new article that is totally unique and different from the post on my blog that it links back to.

Syndication creates duplicate versions of your content across the web. And you cannot be guaranteed that yours will be selected as the original. While there is no such thing as a duplicate content pentalty, the version Google sees as the original copy DOES get a slight boost from a ranking perspective over the copies. Duplicate content can outrank original content by compensating by scoring higher on other non-content based ranking factors like inbound links, but if all else is the same, the original will outrank the duplicate.

If you are going to syndicate your posts then I would include a link in each post/article back to your version of the post so that once it gets syndicated, all of those copies are linking back to the copy on your site. This will help Google determine that your post is the original.

Yes it is very safe and a good idea.

Google does not penalize sites for incoming links period. If they did, you could build links to your competitors and get them penalized. woohoo wouldn't that be fun.
