    If you use Alexa as a measurement for success and improve your blog then that's well enough.
    All though it is a worth less method to measure website success using it to improve your rank and to compete against yourself is a good way to go about.

    Alexa rank is a very coarse grain metric. It does not bring you anything in seo.
    But you can put their picture with your real-time position onto your site pages - visitors might like it.

    Alexa can be manipulated it is not always an accurate reflection of a websites traffic. I would focus on getting targeted traffic, rather than ranking well in Alexa.

    Alexa rank is only calculated by counting number of visits or hits on a website and most webmasters don't care it. The only way for making Alexa rank better is to have more traffic on your website. Also there are some blackhat seo tools which can help you to have a better Alexa rank by sending fake visitors to your website but i don't recommend using them at all as they are blackhat techniques and maybe cause your website to be penalized by Google or other search engines.

    It's diffently not as important as a lot of other things, but it's nice to see how high you can get your site moved up in the rankings and start evaluating everything once it hit 100,000 ranking. Traffic and conversion is more important to me

      If your Alexa ranking is better than a competitor is it only better because you have the toolbar installed and they don't!

    But Alexa rank is kinda pretty important at Flippa, buyer tends to look at it. However, I don't bother that much, for me SERP and traffic is more important, you'll boost your Alexa rank as well with those.

      Buyers are't that stupid that they know it can be manipulated. I purchased one site there a while back; Alexa was 200 000 .... after a month it dropped to 2 000 000 ... don't fugure!
