Hello Warriors,
I was wondering if someone can explain me the difference in SEO for different type of sites?
I mean there are sites that are selling something, a product, a service, movie sites, games sites. How is SEO different for each of them?

Thanks a lot!

Hmm well, if a product is being sold online as a downloadable product, the SEO efforts tend to target broad terms, as the buyers can come from all over the world. e.g. "weight loss diets"

If its a service, it tends to be more local: "personal trainer in los angeles"

A game or movies site will target many keywords across many subpages, and perhaps attract a lot of long tail traffic.

Really SEO doesn't depend on sites, mainly on the intentions of the site owner.

One SEO differnace would be the site itself and the content is unique and it can with some help rank on its own. The other would be a product site or squeeze page type site that the seo of the links is the key. And article review on a smidget ranking high in the search engines having a good click through to the eccomerce site or landing page.

Each site requires analysis and different SEO strategy. For serious 'branded' site you cannot spam in blogs and forums, for autoblog you can do whatever you want. For small and very specific site you cannot write a content every day, while for wide-niche site, you can write tons of content and rise in SERP just by doing this.

There are some universal tactics in SEO, yet the process or recurrence of implementation can vary from site to site. I think one thing you should keep in mind is what the owner is trying to achieve while keeping in mind that SEO is an ongoing process. Most people have the misconception that you implement SEO the first time and then forget about it. Sure, that can be so for most on-page tactics but link building and content refreshing should always be continuous SEO methods.

I think SEO is a great technique and most people on internet are using this technique to promote their site but it can be different for different site, and it is not the thing which you can learn in a day. It requires much time, further you can get the views and help of the people who have used this and be successful in it.

    • IMO, SEO for a blog is much different for an ecommerce site (not brand name)

One thing I found difficult with an ecommerce site is that you have many similar products such as "Blue Widgets", "Red Widgets", "Orange Widgets" or "Small Magnets", "Medium Magnets", "Large Magnets"

How to write product description (never use manufacture description of course) that does not have duplicate content is not easy. And you have to write hundreds if not thousands of them.
