One more newbie question; Grateful for your help

If I match the keyword with the subdirectory or folder part of the URL will that be enough for optimization? or should I need to have the keyword as the domain name to get into Google first page?

Example: keyword: I am a foll
my website will look like: johnmay.com/iamafool

Thanks again everyone

IF everything else were equal, I believe the preference would go something like this:

    1. keyword in domain name
    2. keyword in url (subdomain or folder)
    3. keyword not in url

Of course, everything else is never going to be equal. Your well-optimized, intelligently linked site with the keyword in the url could very well outrank a less-well optimized and connected site with the keyword as the domain name.

For some keywords, it's really tough to get a domain name that makes any sense and contains your keyword - especially if you look for type-in traffic (such as from offline advertising).

In that case, I believe your next best bet is to have a generic, but memorable, domain name and put your keyword in the subdomain or folder.
