Ranked No. 2 on Google With Miserable Traffic (Search Volume: 50,000++ in June)

I am in a competitive niche but fortunately after much effort my site is now ranked number 2 on Google for the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately despite this niche has a search volume of more than 50,000 in June (globally monthly search volume: 75,000) for exact phrase, my site is able to gander a miserable traffic of less than 300 (inclusive of other media) daily.

On further analysis I noticed that my site is actually ranked number five - there are three sponsored links above the organic SERPs.

Is anyone facing similar problem - ranked high but with miserable traffic?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

From statistics at my blog, about 40 percent of my traffic originate from other sources and not from Google search traffic.

Google is making things difficult for sites owners by putting 3 sponsored links above the organic SERPs which eat away a substantial amount of traffic from the organic sites.

Yea 18% is pretty good especially if you have the paid ads above. Those always cut down numbers.

If you are selling something then concentrating on the same phrase with one small additional word can make a huge difference in conversions.
    That word being "buy".
I'd much rather have 300 visitors looking to buy than 1000 visitors that are just looking for information.

That's really good traffic. Just focus on monetizing your website for max profits. With 9000 visitors a month you can make a really good income just off that site alone, if you can monetize it well.

      Agree totally.

If you are not happy with 9000 visitors a month send them our way.

On buyer keywords definitely but it's not a general rule.

I've experienced some very poor traffic numbers from search terms that I expected to bring in huge amounts of traffic. If you want to get an indication of impressions it might be worth trying a bit of PPC on your chosen terms. Google is getting pretty good at slicing and dicing its results these days with local and personal and local results. What you see is not always the same as what everyone else is seeing.

Just checked my ranking. It's a surprise my site is now number one on Google. Ok it should be number four after taking into account the 3 sponsored links.

Hope I can see some spike in traffic due to the new ranking.
