What is the best way to tell how competitive it is to rank for a particular keyword? I use both keyword elite and the google keyword tool and they both seem to have conflicting information

    These days the main positions that matter are 1 and 2, and looking at the backlinks and pagerank of those two positions can be a good indicator.

    The best online tool is Google AdWords Keyword Tool and the best offline tool i have ever seen is "traffic travis" which has free and paid versions. Try both of them.
