Hi everyone, I have built a website about two moths ago based on exact match domain with the following numbers:

Exact match search count per month = 9900
Allintitle + Allinurl + allinanchor = 32
phrase search competition= 127,000
The website is in the furniture niche.
The site has a total of 15 pages

I have been keeping track of my website SERP movement and backlink count and the following graph is what has happened for the past two months.

What do you guys think I should do next to get the website on the first page and make it stick there for good (or at least longer than what its doing right now)

BTW: I use a mix of the following backlinks: UAW, profile links and blog comments

These are for the most part pretty useless. Get some real links with the right anchor text and you should be fine.

That said, the search volume, page count, allintitle, allinurl and allinanchor data that you get from Google is highly unreliable and easy to go wrong with.

Indeed these are at the bottom of the scale when it comes to quality backlinks, although not useless then don't carry very much weight and won't be doing your site any favours in regards to gaining some authority in your niche.

Put a bit of effort into finding quality links on high authority domains in your niche and you will see an instant increase in brand visibility in the SERP's.

I agree with Philip on the metrics.

Go hard for links from authority sites in your niche.
Add to that top directory links (yahoo, botw, dmoz, business.com) and lots of top 10-15 article directory links with varied anchor text usage.

If it's a competitive term it's going to take time, that's the bottom line.
Just be consistent and try to get those high quality authority links in your niche and it will happen.

Mostly but not necessarily true, it's a question of what links you can get. I did a demo just recently and moved a site from the middle of page 3 to #7 on p. 1 for the term "email marketing software" in mere days. And that's a hell of a competitive term. (The links have since been removed, so the result is no longer there.)

Very true indeed, get those high quality back links from the big authority sites in your niche and your well on your way regardless of how competitive the niche is.

Thank you all for your answers. Can anyone give me a suggestion how I can get these links for free or reasonably cheap?

Cheap and free are not worth very much and a way to waste money. You can't have something for nothing. Do you expect to make any money from SEO? How much? This consideration will tell you how much would count as a justifiable investment. If you are not expecting to make any money, SEO is a waste of time and resources. If you play it right you can probably dominate your entire keyword market for something like $2,000 month (ballpark figure pulled out of thin air, but based on experience; mileage will vary). Do you have something that sells? How much will you make if you dominate your keyword market?

Take a look at the number 1 page for that term and see where he is getting his backlinks, then see if you can get links from the same pages.

Hey Dhex, I don't mean to hijack your thread buddy, but I couldn't pm Phillip, and thought you might benefit from any answer I get, and also thought It would be silly to start another discussion thread.

    Hey Phillip,
I myself am just learning the futility of bad link building and am learning to obtain decent links (contacting alot of webmasters everyday) which brings me to ask..whats your take on the whole reciprocal link thing? If you would care to share any experience you've had in this area it would be greatly appreciated as I am considering going on a reciprocal link building rampage.

    Cheers, Ryan.

Ryan, reciprocal linking is one of those things that is better than nothing for SEO purposes, though it's not the ultimate link building technique. It works best when the links are contextual and point from different pages to different pages, rather than 2 pages linked to each other. And, most especially, thee should be no special "links" pages set up just for link exchanges.

But the best links are one way links.
