Escape the Google Sandbox?

Hi

I've been informed by someone that my website Mobile Shelving | Office | Roller Racking | Archive Storage | Rotary X2 has probably been put into the google sandbox.

My site ranks well for some keywords but for the most important keyword "mobile shelving" it's on like page 12 to 14 which makes no sense, hence the suggestion I've been Sandboxed!

Does anyone agree? Got any ideas for escaping quickly?

Being sandboxed means that your website is completely unlisted for anything.

If you're on page 12 for your keyword that most likely means that you still need to build more links. Just keep doing that consistently and you'll be fine.

I agree with Matt. Just keep backlinking to it and you'll move up in the rankings.

Seems so weird though as I mentioned in another post, within Google webmaster tools I'm meant to be ranked at about 36 for keyword "mobile shelving" yet only appear on page 12!

However for the keyword "mini mobile shelving" I'm number 1 and for "rotary x2" I"m number 3 and 4...

Something weird is happening I'm sure of it, any suggestions?

        Hi onorinstorage,

        "Something weird"?

It's more commonly known as competition.

Yes, there is likely many other web pages competing with yours for the same keywords. Is the competition level exactly the same for each keyword? Not likely. Are your pages optimized exactly the same for each keyword? Also, not likely. Does Google serve personalized search results? Yes they do. That is all that is necessary to explain your different rankings for different keywords.

Someone in your city or country is likely to see your listing higher in search results than someone in another city or country. Additionally someone who has visited or bookmarked your website previously will see your page listed higher in search results. It's called personalized search results.

Since you can find your site on page 12, you are definitely not sandboxed. Is your site new i.e. less than 6-9 mths? If yes, your position will tend to be not stable and you get Google dance more often than had it been older. I agree - the only way is to continue with more backlink building.

Keep building high-quality backlinks. Personally, I don't waste my time on PR3 and under. I go for the big dogs because it takes less time (and is so much easier) to find a PR6+ than building 15,000 spammy/low quality backlinks.

I say this alot, but I recommend guess blogging if you can't afford to buy home page blogroll links or contextual links.

    Good luck!
