    Roughly speaking, white hat refers to something which is fine and entirely legal, whereas black hat is the sort of thing that will get you deindexed/penalised fairly quickly. Grey hat would be in-between (could get you penalised, could be fine - it's hard to know) and is therefore more difficult to define.

    So [non-spammy] article marketing would be white hat, whereas linkfarms would be black hat.

    And grey hat (by its very definition) is difficult to give examples of, however Grey-Hat SEO Tactics by Beanstalk gives some good information on it.

    That's right. Grey-hat refers to things which are either
    1. Open for interpretation (some think it's spammy, others not)
    2. Can go both ways (for example comments on blogs could be white-hat if they are legitimate, interesting and useful to others but black-hat if they just say "nice post, thanks")

    The guys here pretty much explained everything here for you.

    Black hat - not really illegal but spammy techniques that can quickly build a site up as quick as it builds the site down. Not good if you want long term income.

    White hat - opposite of black hat. Really, the word is just coined because of the word 'black hat'. So it is pretty much the normal way of doing SEO without getting on anyone's bad side.

    Grey Hat - A mix of both. People who call themselves grey hats are usually doing a little of both methods.

    Blackhat techniques technics are mush faster,less cost and easy to do.But they also can get your site banned form Google Index.
    On the other side.Whitehat techniques are good,slow,need more work,and cost a lottle bit.But it is a true methos that always works.
