Guys,

What is your rule of thumb? 450, 500, 600 words?

Do you see better results if your articles have more words?

Curious to see if anybody has first hand experience if it really makes a difference
between 450 - 600 words for example.

This depends heavily on your market / field / subject matter. A general rule of thumb is no less than 250-300 (and often this suffices) and up to 500-600 in more "academic situations". But if it's unique and extremely valuable content, even 1000 or more can work in some cases. Hell, there are whole novels out there on the Web. But the short answer is that Google loves text content, so for SEO purposes you usually can't go wrong with longer content. Do what makes the most sense for your user.
