Just wondering what the difference in the two would be?

Lets say that I stumbled across some great keywords that get around 3k search volume and have a beatable amount of competition in time. Now to keep my site from looking like a one page site I also found 9 other lower keywords that get around a total of 3k per month.....what the heck should be going in the url?

The reason I ask is because the keywords are not exactly the same wording....example:

Main Keyword
1] Website design Houston, TX

Sub Keywords
2] Custom Logos Houston, TX
3] Flash banners Houston, TX

What should my url look like?

wxw.websitedesignhoustontx.com

or what?

An EMD -- an exact match domain -- gives you a significant headstart in ranking for the exact search phrase (in your example, "mykeywords"), making it much easier to rank for it. No other keywords in URL are as effective -- they help too, but ti a much lesser degree. Out of the keywords that you mention, websitedesignhoustontx.com is the best to go with.

Right, add the secondary keywords in after the EMD. Make sure you double check the keyword volumes in a tool besides Google too add them to the page title, heading & body (bold, italics, underline), alt img, anchor text for internal links. Then build back links to those pages using the same keyword as anchor text.

        Just a friendly tip.

I think if the competition is as weak as you say it is, you might as well get a brandable domain name as youre not going to have a tough time ranking anyways.

    www.brandname.com/bannerdesigns looks alot better than
    www.webdesignhoustantx.com/bannerdesigns

and because the competition is light, the small advantage you get for using a EMD isnt worth more than a brandable name. Thats just my opinion though.
