Hi,

I am checking out my competition for one of my affilate sites. I have noticed using MS that the major high PR of his links comes from sites with a links list. These lists are getting PR5 for the related terms.

Is there a google search I can do that tracks down these lists in a particular niche?

I don't quite understand what you want to find out, but I check out the backlinks of my competitors with LinkDiagnosis (linkdiagnosis.com). Google never shows all the backlinks a site has with the link:site.com query.

The top guy has many PR backlinks at 5 and such.

These backlinks are from sites in the same niche with a page of links. You know how sites sometimes has a friends page of a links page on their site. He has many of his links there.

To match him, I want to try and get some links, I can't do the same because we are promoting the same product, so I was wondering if there was an advanced google search that would help me find these related sites.

Arrange for your links to appear on the same pages? Unless his SEO controls those sites, there should be a way. Typically PR5 links cost a bit but surely can be had.

What do you mean by "sites with a links list"? You mean a page titled "links" with a bunch of outgoing links? Those can be fairly useless, since the Google algo is said to have depreciated links from such pages, especially if they look anything like "link farms." And even if they are passing link juice, what PR the page passes is divided among all the internal and outbound links on the page, so it dwindles to very little. However, if there is a high relevance and the number of links is small and thematically focused, and especially if the site is highly trusted, then such links can still help you.

You can simply try searching for
    "your keyword(s)" "Web resources"
    "your keyword(s)" links
    "your keyword(s)" partners

    and stuff like that.

      yeah a page of links.

I'm confused as to why this guy is on top then.. He has about 2 PR 5 links in a link list 1 PR5 on a homepage with many other links, about 4 PR4 also and so on and about 100,000 PR0 from the same site.

I'm using MS and it's saying that these anchor are of one the reasons he is top dog..
