Outranking Authority Sites With a Low Competition Keyword

So, I've been doing some keyword research now, and I have a question.

I have a low competition, high search volume keyword.

The top ranking page on google is a "authority" site with a PR of 2.

After analyzing the site/ homepage I couldn't see any on-page SEO for that search term. The site had about 500 back links, this being the homepage.

So, my question is. How hard can it be outranking that site?

How quickly can it be done?

Thank you!

PR is only a small ranking factor. There are other ranking factors that are much more important. By the way, display PR, search volume data and your idea about the competition level may prove misleading.

It's impossible to say exactly. It sounds like you might be able to do it pretty quickly, but I haven't checked myself. The expectation range may be from right away to never. If the site you mention is not deliberately targeting the term, you should be able to beat them pretty quickly with the right links.

Thank you very much for the quick reply!

    I did some more research.

    Domain age: 5years
Website focus on several small niches
Traffic Travis: Relatively Easy to Rank (Just a motivation, not a decisive factor)
None of the top 10 ranking sites even try to rank for it! ( checked meta tags and content )

Keyword: 13.000 Competing pages in phrase match.

Go for it. From what you've told us here, I wouldn't label that other site as an "authority" website.

PR2 or PR5 - doesn't matter. If they're not optimizing for that keyword - just go for it.

Go for it! The worst that can happen is that you won't rank, but it sounds like you have a good chance! Keep is posted.

And if you have an EMD (Exact Match Domain), you're golden!

I'd say go for it, bbut double check your KW research first to make sure it's going to be worth your time and effort.

      I really appreciate your feedback!

I'm gonna give it a shot, but not as a EMD, it doesn't fit well as a domain if i'm going to expand the site later on.!
