Adwords: Is this valid?

I wanted a 5 minute affiliate campaign to take advantage of some search buzz.

I thought about putting the ClickBank hoplink directly into the ad url.

I then decided to redirect from my site directly to the hoplink.
I used my own url as the destination in the Adwords ad, and put up a simple php redirect as the landing page.

Will this antagonise teh Google?

Thanks,

Ben

It depends. The domain of the display URL for the ad must match the domain at the destination site (after the redirects). Some of the editors seem to enforce this more strictly than others, but that could be a problem.

      Wait..

If I was to use the vendors url as the display url, and as long as the destination url redirects to the vendors url..

      everything would be sweet?

  • I think you'll have a little trouble there, maybe do a rethink, and work it out better

      Thank you.

As it is now early morning in North America, that particular buzz seems to have died down.

      I will turn it off.

I do like the idea of marketing at speed though. Had a lot of fun.
The good advice is much appreciated - I will step back and come up with a better tactic.

      Cheers,

      Ben.

      No this is not valid.

From the AdWords Advertising Polices>Affiliate URLs>Affiliate Policy:

We do not allow data entry affiliates to use AdWords advertising, but all other affiliates may participate in the AdWords programme. However, we monitor and don't allow the following:
      • Redirect URLs: Ads that contain URLs that automatically redirect to the parent company.
      • Bridge Pages: Ads for web pages that act as an intermediary, whose sole purpose is to link or redirect traffic to the parent company.
      • Framing: Ads for web pages that replicate the look and feel of a parent site. Your site should not mirror (be similar or nearly identical in appearance to) your parent company's or any other advertiser's site.
      So, accordingly;

      Oh mighty Google,
Master of the cyberverse and p0wner of hosts.
Forgive this lowly noob his minor and temporary transgression.
      It shall not occur again.

As mentioned above - it is not permitted.

You do not need to put your hoplink - just the merchants URL where the hoplink ends up as lunarc rightly points out.
