Fact or Fiction - Does Google Penalize Sites That Use Private Registration?

I found an interesting statement when looking on Flippa.com as I skimmed the 'Due Diligence" page of a particular website.

Flippa.com states, "Google is reputed to penalize sites which have use these privacy services."
What's the warning about blocked WHOIS mean?

So my question is, "Does Google Penalize Sites That Use Private Registration?"

Thanks for your input.

No, they do not. In fact, they don't seem to use registration information at all in their mainline algorithms although they probably use it from time to time for secondary research and analysis.

That would suck, cause my domains are private... I don't want some creepers or someone who holds a grudge with me online to find me just like that :/.

I do come across quite a few sites making such a statement that Google penalize sites that use private registration.

However I have not come across any evidence to substantial it.

Google is registrar and can access the root records anyway so to them there is no "privacy"

Would you please care to explain how will Google do that ?

I don't think so since they are not into domain business like Verisign etc.

    This is a fiction.
Google won't ever do this because their terms of services.
Read it carefully and you'll see why.
    Thank you!

I don't see why they would. I would say that is highly unlikely. It wouldn't make sense.

Definitely not. It just wouldn't make any sense. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for wishing to have a private registration, and why the heck should that affect your rankings?
