Domain Mapping and SEO?

Hi there I recently purchased an unlimited hosting account. I am building a number of niche domains and needed hosting for them.

The hosting account is not a reseller account, and he tells me I can set up multiple sites by using domain mapping. Im not exactly sure what this means but it seems to mean that I need to set up subfolders in my 1 account and just redirect my url to that folder.

If I am correct, what are the consequences SEO wise? I just have the gut feeling using redirects is not as good as having completely seperate hosting accounts set up within a reseller account.

Are my concerns founded, and should I get my money back and look for an actual reseller hosting account with WHM Cpanel?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Serge

    Hi Sergiel,

Multiple domains on a singe account should be no problem as far a SEO goes. It's nice having a single Control panel for all you sites. But, if you are flipping websites then you be better off getting a reseller account so when you flip the site you can provide a ready hosted sit with it's own CP.

      Thanks!

So redirecting url's doesn't have any negative impact? Will my redirected site have its own PR, set up this way?

      Thanks

        Hi Sergiel,

If you are redirecting server side it is okay, just dont do a "302 Temporary Redirect". Use mod rewrite or Server.transfer method and search engine bots will not detect the redirect.

Thanks. I have not Idea how to do this redirect server side. I set up a folder in my root directory for the 2nd website but not sure where to go from here. I have been looking in my hosting control panel for a possible function that would allow me to do this easily but doesn't seem to be one. Any advice on this would be great.

Another question I had, say my 2nd website: www(dot)website2.info is now redirected to: www(dot)website1.info/website2 once the visitor reaches my site is the url going to show up www(dot)website1.info/website2 ?

If so I think I may get a refund and just go with the regular hosting reseller account as website 1 is fairly niche specific and will having nothing to do with all the other sites I intend to host on this server.

          Thanks all.
