Backlinks from articles directories

Hi!
I publish articles in some articles directories (e.g. EzineArticles) to create backlinks to my site.
If I want to promote my site for a specific keyword, what's the best way to do this?

1. Publish an article in which the keyword appears in the title of the article.
2. Publish an article in which the keyword appears in the title of the article + some times in the article body.
3. The keyword for which I want to promote my site does not have to appear in the article itself at all.

Of course, that in any case the keyword appears in the achor text in the resource box.

How do Google know if the article is relevant to link or not?

Thanks,
Steve

You definitely need to use the keyword as your anchor text. Far too many people use "click here" as their anchor text, which is a huge mistake!

Just like on your site, in articles, Google uses keywords to figure out what your content is all about. Use your target keywords in your article's title and body - without stuffing or having content that doesn't flow naturally. If you do that, they'll be able to figure out that your article is related to your link.

You are actually right and in one word, an article should not be promotional. The keywords can be added but, it should not be too stuffed; otherwise, it will not appear naturally.

    Sorcery!

Actually, this is what google is all about. The more relevant the page is to the link, the more value that link has.

Right, so I will expand on this a bit:

By uploading an article on the keyword you add relevancy to the page, and, in some instances you can even see the actual article ranking for the keywords. But it's NEVER a bad thing when your back links are on relevant pages. There is a reason you often see pages optimized for a certain keyword ranking well.

Ezine is the best site for article submission. Yes, Google can notice you if you are have an annoying submission. They usually post a message like this in your menu , Google Sorry. So be aware of what you are doing.

You can usually repeat your keyword term say once in every 100 words, but you can also increase your articles' relevance and 'SE attractiveness' by including terms which are almost but not quite your keyword term. This is called 'Latent Semantic Indexing' and it's worth an investigation. It's not considered keyword 'stuffing' and it's a more natural read for your visitor - which is at least as important. Also, the sooner your keyword term appears in the title the better.

So if all the articles contain the keyword in the title, is it harmful to my site?

Google has its algorithm which checks the content and Links related to that content.
If the links are not providing similar information as of in the content..then it may not give that kind of weight to the links.

Article > keyword, keyword > article

    This is the best structure

My title will usually have the keyword. Then I will sprinkle the keyword all over my article (about three times max)..

Because I use an article submitter I simply keep all my anchor text links in the authors bio so that I do not have my article declined by the massive list of directories to which I submit.
Most directories want the links in the authors resource section.
Will this submission / acceptance rates are high and yes, backlinks just flow!
Ohh...another tip, keep your article to minimum of 550 words and your article will get accepted at just about any article directory.
