Hi just a quickie:

- just wondered if having google ads on a site is worth it anymore?

Does it help with SEO? - If so, then I guess definitely it is.

Otherwise, I feel it's not worth putting them on your site - does anyone actually make any money from google ads? Or do you need a hundred sites to do so....

Many thanks for any comments here.

First, this belongs in the Adsense forum. Second, I make a nice living from Adsense, and I have for years now. Third, it does not help in the least in terms of SEO. Fourth, you can make good money from Adsense with one site or from 1,000. Both models work. Depends on your preferences and resources.

Well, i take ads like this: If you sell your own product, then more clicks your customer can make on your site, bigger chance that you will lose your sale. If you have a blog, where you just write about general stuff etc. (friend of mine is earning quite good with adsense, he writes about golf and loves blogging), then yes, you can earn quite well.
For me, adsense is pointless. You can lose your potential customers, for few cents. Or bucks.

The beauty of being an online marketer = you don't have to make this choice. Do both. I do. Diversification. Multiple income streams. It's all good.

If you do adwords, research the "content network." That is where you place your ads on the kinds of active sites that are related to your products. I think it's even a little less expensive to do so.

AdSense is nice but you can usually make more from affiliate schemes and the like.

I agree with Zeus. Although you'll want to start with one technique (Adsense, CPA, etc.) and tweak your approach until you get it right, it's best to diversify your techniques as much as possible. The more income streams that you have, the less likely you are to get caught off guard by some huge market swing. Obviously, you'll want to pour the most effort into the techniques that you're most comfortable and successful with.

My experience with ad sense is no, its not worth the cluttered look.. but take into consideration, i am a blogger and my experiences have been on blogs. I like to earn income from other sources.. such as Review Me and Text Link Ads.. text link ads can be placed in your navigation bar and look like links to your pages.. thus making your site look a lot less cluttered

I hope this information was helpful, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
