Does Blog Commenting Still work?

I just blasted about 100 links on blog comments. They've all got do follow linkage but I just wondered what kind of help that will bring to my SEO cause.

    It helps, but very little and not as much as having keyword rich anchor text pointing to your web site existing within a body of text that is relevant to the content of your web site. Also, Google frowns upon this, although they currently do not punish people for it because it's an external factor and a person could potentially be framed with the goal of bringing down their site for spam.

    Eventually, Google will probably make those links simply not count.

      Blog comment spam has been around since the first blog started allowing comments. This isn't a new phenomena...has Google just been on a sabbatical?:rolleyes:

    It does help, but the links don't carry all that much weight. Its better if the blog relates to the site its linking to.

    Don't you mean you "just spammed 100 links on blog comments"? On my blogs, 99.9% of comments are not approved, as they add no value.

    A better way is to find two or three relevant blogs with pagerank.

    Use a name, not a keyword as the link, and participate in the conversation long term.

    This would not be spam and your comments will get approved.
