Hi There,

Can someone please tell me how I can find out which keywords are used in a website to get traffic? This is for a website that someone else owns.

Thanks for the help.

To find out which keywords are targeted, do this google search:
    site:example.com
(replace exmaple.com with the right domain name). This will list the pages indexed by Google. The targeted keywords appear in the title tags.

Serious SEOs don't use meta keywords any more, but lots of sites still have them. View the page source code to see their meta kewords -- those also tell you which phrases they aim to target.

To see which main keywords Google associates with a site, you can plug their URL in the Google AdWords keyword tool (but this is not very useful because the associations are too broad, IMHO).

There are various competitive analysis applications such as Keyword Spy which can tell you which keywords a site is actually ranking for.

    I hope this helps!

Annie, It is so simple. Just follow this guide.

    * Visit the site

    * Left click on the site

    * Stroll down and click on "source" or "view source page" [depending on any one that appears]

    * You will see different codes of the site. just look well or stroll down
and you will find all the keywords the used on the site.

If you have any problem implementing this, Send PM to me and state the site, i will do it for you Free of charge.

    I Hope this will help.

    Hi Annie,

Hands down the best way to spy on your competitors keywords and get these two things:

    1. The keywords they are using (no guessing or peaking at their meta keywords) actual keywords that are driving real traffic
    2. The amount of traffic those keywords are pulling into their sites

Is the live data retrospective tool, I have been using for a couple of years now.

Not many marketers are aware of this tool, (I always hear them mentions something similar, but not as good) hope you get this, as I use it daily and just cannot cancel my subscription.

I have tried to do without it time and again, as it has a monthly subscription fee, but I keep going back as it does what nothing else I know can.

It creates all my opportunities for my clients (SEO) without the guesswork.

Why take a risk and optimize for keywords that may or may not drive traffic? Find out up front and know what you should be targeting for your affiliate campaigns or clients.

    The tool is: SemRush.com

Hope this helps, like it has helped me.

    Greg.
