Should I provide my Adsense pub id to website contractor?

After completing three websites, I have finally outsourced the building of my next website. He wants to include an Adsense campaign. Is it okay to give him my Adsense pub id or should I add the id? I don't really know how he could benefit from having the id but thought I should ask the experts. Any help would be appreciated.

Add the ID yourself! Do not give anyone the power to screw you over later. Lets say you don't pay him or the relationship falls apart. He now has access to this ID. Builds a website fast and then starts clicking the links to get your account banned. Or adds banned content to the website he makes.

I think there is no point to keep it a secret as anybody can see your adsense pub code anyway by just viewing a source code of your webpage.

Just tell the guy to add a generic adsense code with no pub-ID, then when you have control of the site admin, add your real Adsense code.

      It isn't a big deal.
Thanks for taking the time, not only to answer, but to provide a viable and realistic solution.

Give the guy your ID. It's publically viewable in the source code (as already stated above), and if you don't trust him with public info then why are you paying for his services?

If you're concerned about it getting used on another site and this putting you at risk for click fraud then you can run a whitelist of sites that are allowed to display ads under your publisher ID. Basically advertisers won't be charged for clicks on sites that aren't in your whitelist and Google won't punish you - although they *will* notify you if ads are displayed on domains that you haven't whitelisted. Pretty useful if you ask me, although I'm not sure how many Warriors make use of this feature. I do, and the only downside is that I need to remember to add new domains as I publish them, otherwise I don't get credited for clicks, and you can't retrospectively get credit for non-whitelisted domains.

Thanks for you very quick and informative reply. I appreciate the candor and follow-up information about "whitelisting" my sites. Thanks for taking the time, not only to answer my question, but to "upgrade" your answer to a "teaching moment."
