Adsense along with Affiliate marketing

Hello,
I hope this is the right place for this thread, as I am new here.
Can anyone share their thoughts on whether there are any issues with this. I have a large quality site with adsense and want to further monetize it with some affiliate stuff mabe from CJ. I read somewhere, years ago that google frowns upon this and that it may affect my rankings in the serps or perhaps be against the adsense TOS. Thanks in advance to everyone that can help.

    If your site is, as you say, 'quality' then you should be fine. Google is exacting a war aginst 'thin' affiliate sites - that is sites without any original content, whose sole purpose is to act as a gateway to the merchant site.

    I have a site whose sole purpose is to make affiliate commissions (as do many here), but I've been okay so far because I publish coherent and useful information that isn't even available on the merchants own site. If your site can stand as a resource in it's own right you have nothing to worry about.

    As for it being against AdSense TOS - you should be fine as long as you affiliate ads aren't made to look like AdSense blocks and you're not promoting the usual banned categories (porn, pills or gambling).

    thanks James...ye its a good site and up for 10 years bout 1000 pages very unique content. I appreciate your reply. Any insite as to the best affiliates to deal with
    (like the google of affiliates)...am I on the right track with cj...I read that amazone is not available in New York. And many complain about the flyby night affiliates

    Apart from google frowding at it, i think is not that wise having both together on same site. reason is imagine setting up a quality site on "wedding rings" [for an example].

    If want to monetize with Adsense..then the adsense will be PPC Adverts related to 'wedding rings' [that means The PPC Ads on your site are sites who are selling service or product related to your niche or keyword]

    Now putting Affiliate Product on "wedding Rings" on that same site will be a distraction to your visitors.

    Because Adsense will be advertising the same thing you are sell as an affiliate product. So which one are you suggesting to your visitors?

    I prefer have one on a site and focus on bring result from that one alone.

    This is view...i respect any other suggestion.

    I've had success using both. They key is to be orginal. Write original content, original testimonials, and think outside the box on related content and add that too.

    So if you build a iste around Ironman treadmills, make sure you wirte original articles about each model you are going to promote. But also write original articles about the value of cardiovascular fitness, treadmill training routines, running show reviews, etc.... Be professional with your design and you should be fine.

    I have a fitness equipment site where I do this to promote an item where the entry model is $1500. I also have Adsense on it. I sell 1-2 a month of the the item and make $3-6 a day on Adsense.....
