2 links on a page/profile

I've heard from a few warriors that Google will only recognize one link to the same site on a single web page.

For Example: {Link to main site} , {Link to main site} would only count as one link.

Is that the same case for sub-pages? For example:

{Link to main site} , {link to sub-page on main site}

I hope this was not too confusing. Any thoughts?

    Sub-pages should count as separate links.

    Good to know. Thanks for the help. I'm trying to build up my homepage as well as a particular product page. This makes things much easier.

    It's true. If n number of links on a page point to just one location, it's value is counted as only 1.

    Hence, you should build links for different pages of your site.
