Some people say that twitter helps in making backlinks for your site, is it right? If twitter can make backlinks, can you please give me the idea on how to get the backlinks.

    While Twitter is nofollow I see consistent Twitter backlinks in Google's webmaster tools so clearly they pay attention to links from Twitter.

      I also find backlinks from twitter from Dashboard of Google webmaster tools too.
      As I know, the article directory, articlesbase.com is nofollow. I also find backlinks from it.
      So I don't care too much about dofollow or nofollow blog. If I find a blog is interesting and I also want to say something, I will leave a comment.

    It may just be the best nofollow links available in my humble opinion. Google definitely seems to pay attention to links from twitter.

    FWIW, I have noticed that if your keywords are in your tweeted link as opposed to using URL shorteners, the tweets begin appearing in search results. They are no follow links, but only people who care about meaningless PR are concerned with that.

    twitter is a good promotional tool. you can drive a good amount of traffic to your site through twitter. It depends on how well you use the platform . But you don't get any back link from twitter. you don't get backlinks from any social networks like twitter, face book, my space, bebo etc.

      Wrong. Many of my pages have LOTS of backlinks from Twitter listed with Google. Please don't spread incorrect information.

      Wow are you serious? you dont get backlinks from facebook..twitter or myspace..this is false. These 3 backlinks are very powerful in my opinion to increase SERPs

    I use Twitter and Facebook for backlinks and can see they work. I even have a trick I use with twitter that makes regular sales. All the major guru's are on twitter and facebook and in my eyes if I click on a link in a tweet and it takes me to a site then it's a link. There's a lot of argueing about follow and no follow but I'm well and truly certain that 2 of the biggest players out there can't all be no follow.
