Adsense placement tips

I have been changing up my adsense placements as of the last few weeks on my Disc Golf Blog (link below). I've been trying a combination of ad boxes and link boxes, but I'm still seeing a very low click rate.

Does anyone have some tips or advice for maximizing click rates on a blog?

Thanks.

There are some great tips you can find about this subject. Check this post:
    Positioning your Adsense Ads

From looking at your site I can recommend a great free theme for you that is AdSense optimized - WordPress Adsense Ready Theme - HeatMap Theme (it's free and this is not my affiliate link)

You can download the free version and it will make it very easy for you to insert Ads in various parts of your pages and posts.

You don't really have a lot of Adsense ads on your site and you should add more. Add some Images Ads and some Ad Boxes inside your posts, at the top and at the bottom.

Run some tests after each change you make and see what gives you the best CTR.

From the looks of it, I am pretty sure you can increase your CTR by simply adding more Ads to your site.

    Thanks for the tips...

The only reason i was concerned about including more ads is because I had heard that Google could ban you from adsense if you had more than 3 ads per page. Is this true?

I don't know for sure, but it makes some sense. I don't suggest you fill your site with 10 ads, but I think that Image ads will do a better job for you.

My recommendation would be to read Adsense's terms of service. It tells you plainly this answer, plus tons of other beneficial information. They even have a blog with case studies, where you can take all those positioning tips and apply them to your own site.

I am a broken record on this, but I love the layout of school-grants.org
Also am a huge fan of integrating the header colors or shades in the adsense.

You can add more than 3, but only 3 will show.

You should add all 3, IMHO. The highest paying clicks may be anywhere.
The highest performing ads are first.

Be sure to have content start above the fold.

The school grants site above is the epitome of adsense integration,
complete with link units and sharing buttons. It really is top notch.

But, as always, you have to test your site. BUT....let it ride for at
least 2 weeks before changing. or longer. That's google talking, not me.

I've used Adsense on blogs for years.

    Here's my personal experience:

    1. Best CTR is for 728 x 90 banner ad.
    2. Top sidebar 300 x 250 square does well.
    3. lower sidebar 300x250 square does 3rd best

I've tried in content ads which I see a lot of people do. They look spammy and didn't work for me. The google link boxes do zero for me. Footer ads are also really poor CTR on my sites.

I find the site appearance helps too. I had a much lower CTR on sites with dark backgrounds. Light backgrounds which make the ads jump out more seemed to help.
