It doesn't matter which one you point to. But pick one and stick to it and only build links to that one. How is it redirecting? I know I setup a redirect for my site with .htaccess.

Just pick one and stick to it. Create all your link to only one of the two.

There are many sites infact many top sites like mashable without www but I vouch include www. I have observed that sites which don't have www are very difficult to get ranked in top page of google USA for competitive keywords. Stick to www and build links for that link.

Where do people get this stuff????

      Obviously, not even listening.

You want to pick one or the other. You should do a redirect as someone stated.
It may appear to be a different page and duplicate content. This
forces google to pick one, effectively splitting your efforts. Not cost
      effective in the overall scheme.

You can rank either one. Whether it has www or not. Makes no
difference for anything. Pick one and go with it, redirecting the other.

We can now add one more to the list:
Voodoo SEO: You get a boost for having a www.

I' not sure about www versus non www in terms of any ranking benefits, but D Baker is correct - pick one and stick with it, and do a 301 permanent redirect from the other.

I set up all my sites without the www

Thanks for your replys. I have one more question: How can I do a 301 redirection? I questione because when typing my website url with www then it redirects to the version without www, but I have never set a redirection, that's the way it is by default, I guess

Exactly like everyone else said above.

It really doesn't matter, you can use both of them and market both of them.

But, it would be much easier to stick with one until you have it getting plastered with organic traffic.

I personally use non-www and have no problem ranking. Just pick one and stick with it.

If you have links to both www and non www, can you join them so that all the links point to one? I have searched for this in google webmaster tools but did not found

I know many of you disagree with my thoughts but I still say including www in the site holds a big value in ranking for google USA. I am not a big expert may be you are but I know what I am saying is true.

I have sites that rank well with www. and other sites that rank well without www.

So I guess it doesn't really matter but as previously mentioned stick with your choice.

It really does not matter which version you choose. What does matter that you are consistant when linking to pages on your site.

www and non-www version are treated as seperate websites in Googles eyes. You can set up IIS or .htaccess to redirect all traffic from one type to the other using 301 redirects.

When Google sees a 301 redirect, it will update the indexed url to the correct version for you.

With social media sites like Twitter, shorter urls work better. So if you have not made your choice, I would recommend the non www version.

To keep things even more neat and organized, you can set your preferred www or not in the Goggle Webmaster Central account. This way you tell God directly what you prefer to see in rankings.

On the rankings of non-www sites mentioned, perhaps Dr Faizan is just seeing the majority effect? Certainly no difference as I have observed, but if you have some strong idea in mind you will always see what you expect. Basic NLP. What the thinker thinks, the prover proves (prover being your subconsious).
