Long Phrased KW Should Cost Less in Adwords???

Just trying to find out about something.

Is it true if I had a long tailed KW w/ a quality score of 7 - the cost of it should be a lot lower?

For an example - one KW phrase I'm using in one advertisement is "Credit Card Processing for Small Businesses". This niche gets very low traffic but can get a high conversion rate. Google is saying it will cost me $24 per click to be advertised on the first page. I know that credit cards phrase is very expensive - but I thought it would be a lot less since it's a long tailed - or am I completely wrong?

Also - I used the match type [Credit Card Processing for Small Businesses] - it will cost me the same per click.

Wondering if someone can help me here...

Actually long tail keywords can cost you more money if you do not go about it right. If you do not use "exact" phrase match then there is higher chance your ads could turn up for irrelevant searches. However, using exact phrase match doesn't mean that your bid will be any less or more, that's purely based on competitors, but will insure that your ads do show up to relevant searches and in return lower your click charges.

For example lets say you use the long tail keyword phrase "process credit cards on my mobile phone" and don't use exact phrase match then you your ad could turn up for someone that types in "process for getting credit so i can get a mobile phone" then your ad is going to appear and could get clicked and be not be relevant and you are pretty much losing money.

So my suggestion when using adwords is always use exact phrase matching in combination with good keyword research. Also, ALWAYS put the word "free" in your negative keywords unless of course it is a free CPA or something.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any more advice with adwords.

Thanks for your advice. Kinda new at adwords - still gotta work it out. I've been doing organic for the past couple years - thought I would try to get adwords down to become more rounded.
