SEO and Backlinking

Hi.

If my site is myproduct.com and the index.html gets directed to myproduct.com/myproduct.html, from a SEO perspective, for maximium benefit, should backlinks be targeted towards myproduct.com or myproduct.com/myproduct.html?

If I understood you correctly, than when someone lands on myproduct.com they will be directed to myproduct.com/myproduct.html than you can build your links to either one as both lead to the same page .

Just pick one and focus on that.

If you are going after a 2nd keyword, then you may link that to an inner page which you are suggesting, otherwise, what the first reply said.

  Hmm - I if you have both pages available without a redirect then this could cause duplicate content issues but you have a redirect so its fine -
  
  Why not just change the myproduct.html to index.html so that it will work with your route domain?

Just stick to one page and get backlinks to it..that will help.Redirecting to one page would help in seo.
