Simple blog commenting SEO question

I've just started doing some blog commenting to start to develop backlinks for an e-commerce site I launched for my business. Now assuming the sites I'm commenting on offer dofollow links, does the link actually have to be in the comment itself? Since many blogs have a form where you can add your URL before the comment. Obviously, it is better to have the link in the form and the comment, but on sites that have moderated comments I'm guessing my links in the comment itself could get my comment deleted in most cases. What is the best practice for this?

I usually just add my URL in the form and not in the comment itself and so far this worked for getting backlinks.

The url should be in the URL space on the form so It's hyperlinked by the name. But in all honesty Google doesn't give enough weight to blog comments anymore to consider them as a backlinking option.

How do you know that, is that any assumption? Is it hear say? Although not all links are equal, the link diversity is the most important bit here.

Heres the way to do it for maximum result.

If your targeting a particul keyword then use that keyword as your name.
Type that in the name field. Then your url. Then your useful comment to lessen the changes of it being trashed.

If you make a big comment then perhaps that would satisfy the "relevence" factor. Blog commenting still works.

      Best regards

Yes blog commenting still works. Try to avoid the really spammy blogs though if you can. I know thats not easy.

Some blogs wont allow html in the comment box however they will allow the name to be backlinked so then you have to use your keyword in the name box.

Usually you can find one or two commentors that have posted backlinks and that will give you a good idea how their blog is setup for backlinking.

Thanks for the insight guys. I've been trying to find blogs that relate to my keyword, so the backlink may be a bit stronger. Or I have the chance of a prospect clicking on it.

My main problem now is finding blogs that are dofollow. I installed a plugin for chrome so I can check easily, it is surprising how many are nofollow nowadays.

Do not do this unless you enjoy your comments being deleted. When you're using blog commenting or forum posting (signatures) for backlinks, always post good quality posts that show the writer you actually read what they wrote (or are already knowledgeable and can sound like you read it) and have something to say about it. If you don't, don't comment. Spam just gets blog and forum owners to add nofollow tags to all links.

If you're going to add your link in the content/comment section then first of all your comment should be outstanding so that the admin would think twice before deleting to your link comment.

Second thing is your site niche should be matched to the niche of the linking page,so that it would not look like spamming. If these two options fulfill then the chances of comment deletion would be quite less.

For my opinion Blog Commenting still works , If you know how to do it perfectly.

Link in the URL box is better then link in the comment , but either way it depends on the quality of your comment , it must satisfy the blog owner .

I havent read anyone's response to this question but the best way to do it is in the name section make it the keyword you want to rank for, then it usually has a website..where you can add your url.
Therefore, your name is a hyperlink and is the keyword you want to rank for..just my 2 cents.

i would only put links in your username area that is normally allowed. I would not insert a link into someones blog comment. Also be sure to make a response that contributes to the blog you are commenting on.

By doing this your links should stick better.

Blog commenting works. You need to follow the blog rules ( comment policy). You cannot add your link in comment, you can add your link in the 'url section'. comment something useful, relevant and meaningful after reading the blog, by this way you can have a meaningful conversation, your comment will pass moderation and apart from backlink you can also drive some traffic as well. Blog commenting is a time consuming task, so don't spend too much time on this, you can post one or two comments every day.

Blog commenting is a good one to get backlinks, but some blogs gives us a nofollow backlink. So, first check that blog provides dofollow or nofollow links.
