I'm new at affiliate marketing and I'm having trouble with Adwords. I thought that this may be the perfect forum to learn something new.

I started an Adwords account yesterday but I couldn't get any of my ads approved. I used a http://www.yourcomdomain.com/landing_page.html as the both the display and referral links. Do they accept such a structure?

I'm sure they do not allow that, it has to be top level domain. I may be wrong, also go find some vouchers online/or free coupons to get you started. Adwords can suck your money dry like a marketer reading a book at borders drinking his coffee....and actually finishing it.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you recommend some reading material other than this forum which I can go through so that the vampire doesn't suck too much out?

your display URL must match the destination URL / where the page lands after the link has been clicked.

in your example above if the destination URL lands at that site then your display URL could look like this

    www.yourcomdomain.com
    yourcomdomain.com
    mysubdomain.yourcomdomain.com
    yourcomdomain.com/mysubdirectory
    www.yourcomdomain.com/mysubdirectory

(provided the max length was <=35 chars)

the key with the display URL is must have the main URL in tact / the page where link lands / the destination / see bold / the rest is op tonal.

if you have a common or shared landing URL / like blogspots then the display URL must include the prefix as well in the display URL and can not be

    blogspot.com but must read myname.blogspot.com

    here's what you need:

    Display: http://www.yourcomdomain.com
    Destination: http://www.yourcomdomain.com/landing-page.html

You don't put the landing-page.html into the Display url, you just put in the domain as in the example.

I second that and its tried and tested. Try to promote simple URL's (no sessions, no non existing URL's in the display URL)
      Thumbs up for the tip.

Just to add my 2 cents. A nice little AB test for your display URL:

Your display URL needs to contain the top level destination URL.

        For instance:

Destination URL is: myurl.com: The Leading Domain Names Site on the Net

Your display URL can now be:

myurl.com: The Leading Domain Names Site on the Net
        myurl.com
        myurl.com/"anything you want"
        "anything you want".myurl.com

        Try testing

        myurl.com/offer1

        against

        offer1.myurl.com

I know it's only a little difference in appearance but this can influence a user to click on your ad or not to. sometimes having the keyword at the forefront of your display url can have an advantageous effect.

Gice it a test and see what happens.

Ok guys I have no Idea what just happened to my post above! - when I typed it just said "myurl.com/offer1" and when I posted it it hyperlinked it and changed "offer 1" to the "leading domains site on the net".

I have no idea why?? Can anybody shed some light on this?

Guys. I have some few question for Adwords guru here. My main adwords account have received a final warning from Adwords team. Due to my "MLM" site. They are now sees MLM as get rick quick.

Now, I have a new site (lead capture page) and I am promoting "freelancing"
If I promote it in Adwords to generate some leads. Will I get banned?

Landing pages advertised via AdWords must have relevant, original content, and must be transparent about the nature of the business being promoted. Further, advertisers are prohibited from promoting certain types of sites, which include, but are not limited to:
    * Data collection sites that imply delivery of free items, etc., in order to collect private information
    Thanks
