Hi warriors,
All these years I have been after some pretty competitive keywords and I did manage to get good rankings.Today I just found out a relatively easy keyword with just 2 sites having a pr of 3 in the top 10.Now my question is what should I do to dominate that keyword?I want to do the least work here.Should I just use web 2.0 sites to backlink?Sorry I dont have enough experience with these easy to dominate keywords.

Don't you think it's the same technique?

The site you are trying to beat are not in a vacuum and you cannot
make any judgments as to how hard they are to beat with just a few
    stats like PR.

The thing is I dont have any experience with easy keywords.I always go after the competitive ones and I have to do a lot of things like press releases, forums profiles, web 2.0 etc.I just wanted to know what approach you would take?I want to save time and I dont want to do so much stuff like I used to do before.

You do not have experience with ranking for easy keywords yet you are using you signature to sell SEO services?

Just use the same strategies you used to get your 80 clients top rankings

If you indeed took 80 clients to the top, you already would know.

Why would you want to short change your clients? There are guarantees.
If you are not wanting to do the full monte for all clients, then how much
your service are they going to get? There are no short cuts. The ones that
are "short cuts" are low level and should be avoided.

I think I understand the OP's question. He is used to laying down a lot of work and long game plan to rank for a keyword. In this case he recognizes that the competition is nil and he needs to implement his short game.

            So.... I'll answer your question.

Same ranking principle that you used previously for the easy keywords can be applied in this niche.

Establish content on your website --> Get the content indexed ---> Take the deep links and backlink those pages using web 2.0/article/video/rss/socialbookmarking --> backlink your backlinks.

If you have some .gov/.edu sites to use then throw them in the mix.

Your order of operations should look like this: website content --> articles/web2.0/socialbookmark ---> RSS EVERYTHING ---> To backlinking backlinks.

Big G gives precedence to exact name domain matches so be sure if possible to grab that.

If the keyword really has no compeitition you should be able to dominate the SERPS in about 1 week.

Exactly the method I would suggest:

I like that lbtillmanyoung was the first one to answer the poster's actual question. Good on ya.

I do have to disagree with one thing though:

Google doesn't give bonus points for .edu or .gov sites anymore since you can just register your own without any formal check. That being said, you should diversity your links as much as possible, but you don't have to go out of your way for these TLDs.

It is kind of interesting that you can do well with tough keywords but are at a loss for easy keywords. I would think you would know what strategies work best for the tough ones so do less of those ones or a few of those ones you already know work well for tough ones. I would put a bunch of content on a website that interlinked to each other and sprinkle out some backlinks. Maybe just not in the volume you are used to. I think the strategies should be the same just less of what you are doing for the tough ones may get you ranked higher quicker.

I would simple throw 40 profile links at it, then some articles and rss submissions plus bookmarking. If that does not get you No.1 then a linkwheel.

I'd mix it up a bit and do a little bit of everything. Would be a great opportunity for some experimenting as well!

If its uncompetetive, an exact match domain might just be sufficient to reach the first page. I would:
      • throw up a 500 - 750 word article on your one page site,
      • make sure the article deals with the keyword,
      • ensure the keyword has a keyword density of 2%,
      • make sure the keyword is in the title,
      • highlight the keyword in the article through <em> (italics) or <b> (bold) tag.
      • images are named as the keyword through the <alt> tag,
      • links (if any) named as keyword through <title> tag.
Wait for google to index your site and see where it is ranked. On page SEO may be enough, if its not on the first page then consider backlinking.

And to get it indexed ping the site and add it digg, stumbleupon and propeller. Also if there is no exact match domain going, get a variation of it like 'thekeyword.com'.

If the site is not for the USA, then getting .co.uk, .de, .fr, etc is possibly a better option.
