Sounds like it isn't new since other pages are already indexed.

Jan 2008....nope no changes other than hiring a article spinner/link builder.

Thats an easy question to answer if your talking about the website in your sig. 99% guarantee that its Google's dupe content filter.

You can get away with having duplicate content from another website on your own and still get nice rankings but as soon as you have to pages on your website that mirror each other in the index, Google filters both of those pages out of the rankings. Iv experienced it and corrected it hundreds of times.

After doing the site:YourDomainName.com on your sig website, it didnt take me long to find dupe versions of your homepage. /index.htm & /index.htm?hop=asapin.

/index.htm doesn't appear in the Goog Index, so Id highly recommend setting that second page to noindex in robots.txt file and removing it from the index from webmaster tools.

If thats not the site your talking about, then there isn't any way to help without the URL of your troubled welsite.

Very insightful reply, thanks a lot. However the /index.htm?hop=asapin page is just a clickbank hoplink that google indexed for some reason.

Would it make sense just to change around my home page content?

Have you made any changes to your robots.txt file? Have you uploaded any new themes lately?

I have seen cases where people were editing their robots.txt file, and put in something deny: index.html or something like deny: index.php. Which blocked the search engines from indexing the home page.

You may also want to check your theme to make sure noindex is not in the header.

I'm dealing with the same issue. Here is a good check...

Search for something like the text of your domain name and find it there. For instance, I rank for my name, which is also my domain name. I rank third. It's not my main keyword though. For my main keyword, I'm not even in the top 1000. But I know it's indexed because I rank for other terms.

What I think you and I are both seeing is the Google Sandbox effect. My site is almost a year old, but I just re-optimized for a new keyword. I think in a few months I'll pop up in there somewhere.

So yeah, look up Google Sandbox for more info on what I'm talking about. Best of luck

Like the above poster said its probably the Google Sandbox

Just recently one of my sites disappeared off Google when I ran a search site:mysite.com it picked up some of the inner pages but could not find my main page

Give it some time and it will re-appear IMHO

Ok brief update for the sake of anyone who may experience this in the future...

Site was de-indexed after hiring a lady here on WF to do article spinning/backlink building.

Site was back in the rankings about 6 weeks later, but only for a week or so then it vanished again.

Site has been de-indexed until a few days ago when I started resubmitting articles w/backlinks, now it's back in the SERPS, albeit with rankings not as good as before.

I'm going to keep pumping out articles until it gets to where it should be. FYI I use magic article rewriter/submitter.
