getting backlinks from news websites???

hey!!
I'm asking about if getting backlinks from newspapers website like NY times and other is a good idea, if yeah, which news websites are do-follow sites and accept backlinks? especially in business niche!

    Getting any backlink from a news site would be good even if it is a nofollow link because it would send alot of people over your way and using linkbait would get links that way.

    That would be a great idea and in fact this is one of the things only the experts and professionals might be able to do because it would be complex convincing those authority web portals to add links to a website.

    It's been my experience the only way to get a link from an authority site such as you are describing is through a comment on an article.

      Seconding this. I have done quite some commenting on news sites and found these links always being detected by Google fairly fast.

      If you want to know if they are dofollow.... just ad a plugin to your browser that can highlight nofollow links and look what the comment before yours looks like. If it is highlighted you know that this might not be your best choice to add a comment.

      It's been my experience that there are many ways to get a link from an authority site such as the one mentioned by OP, but most of them require having an exceptionally interesting story to tell, telling the story exceptionally well, and finding the best person within the organization to tell it to.

      There is also no magic submission software to do this for you - you have to pick up the phone, or go see them in person (unless you have established prior contact - in which case an email might do the trick).

      Of course its better to get a follow link. But I was suggesting that if you position yourself the right way and get them to write about your site, it would produce massive exposure to your brand and website- which itself would create attention to your site where people may blog about the site and link to it.

      Even though I don't think they would write about you and place a no follow link, it could still be very good technique if they did anyway. I think I did see a news source place a nofollow link on some of the outbound links before- which is why I said that.

    Depends on how you advertise. I do not believe in the myth of it being bad to get NOFOLLOW links. Nofollow links do not make a positive effect on your page rank.

    I think you can also gain traffic from this method.

    Besides, no follow links look natural to the search engines too. There is nothing wrong with a no follow link. No reason to ignore it.

    Personally I would focus on getting any links from reputable news websites that you can. Don't even worry about dofollow / nofollow so much as these should give you some nice traffic.

    there is a tool to check do follow website, just find the tool. Google loves Quality, and Newspaper website is considered as a qualified website by Google. so it is good as far as they are with your niche.
