This tiny, simple, trick gets any site indexed in Google within 2 hours...

Many of you seemed to enjoy the post I made about this on Brad Callen's thread and it sounded like not many people had heard of it or tried it, so here it is.

First, I have heard from reputable sources that using the 'Add URL' page in Google actually makes it take longer because they throw your site into a pile that they plan to get to later.

More importantly, here's a technique that's so simple (yet brilliant!), many of you have probably never even heard of it or tried it. When you launch a site, go to a popular forum that gets crawled often where you've made quite a few posts that implements dofollow signature links (hint hint, this one) and throw your link in there by going to your user control panel and editing your signature and adding a link to a piece of punctuation such as a comma or period that no one will really see. I think Scott (ClickBump) coined the term 'sneaky punctuation trick' for this.

That link is instantly published on every post you've ever made in the forum anywhere, and while there is really no SEO benefit, it will get you indexed quicker than anything I've ever tried. It has never taken any of my sites more than a couple hours to get indexed, most within about 20 minutes. If you've seen a good number of my posts on here, you'll see that I change the link(s) in my signature almost every day.

Now go get indexed!

Nice tip - I think pretty much in general any links coming from hot sites will work wonders quickly - I often use social bookmarking to achieve similar results for new sites too. I like how you use your sig as robot traffic control basically

Scott, it's an honor to even have you on my thread. I crank out about 1 niche site per day, sometimes more, with the Engine and Jumpstart. So I want to personally say thanks for providing the most streamlined, effortless, perfect set of tools for building niche sites. I love it and recommend it to everyone I talk to.

Anyway, the punctuation trick is awesome; never would have thought of that. Ironically, this thread now ranks #2 in the SERPs for the phrase "sneaky punctuation trick."

That is how it is for me too. My sites get indexed in an hour or so without doing anything but the ping that I have in WordPress. But getting them to appear in the SERP anywhere near the first page is a major hurdle for me. Even when I have tried the lowest of low hanging fruit.

I used to do the same, but when I thought of it again, I stopped the practice. G would not like the links removed, it is a negative mark to a website that has lost its links.
Again when we put back the links back in position the bots crawl and find the link back. The algo gets confused .

So I have stopped following the method. I get good response from social bookmarking, I get indexed in a max time of of one day or less.

They say consistency is the key when building back links. I wonder if there would be any consequences if you were to add your signature to a forum, get indexed, then remove the signature. I can't imagine this would be a good thing from a Spidering perspective.

Well this trick isn't necessarily for backlinks, per se, it's just to get indexed, so I don't think it's a big deal.

Remember the key is to have a decent amount of posts to increase your likelihood of being 'seen' by one of the spiders. Having less than 10 posts or however many you had at the time would probably take longer.

I've never had to wait long to get quality pages indexed.
But most people don't start building quality backlinks right after they finish building the site. The point of the trick is to only leave the link up in your sig for a short amount of time, during which the spiders will probably only crawl and index and small percentage of the sig links in all your posts anywhere on the forum.

Why do you hate to have text links to them? If you're worried about the irrelevance factor, that's not a negative factor for SEO.

Mainly because they are forums I participate in on a personal level and am very active in, and don't want to be seen as a spammer because of a signature full of blatant ad links. kwim?

I just came across this thread last night, I took all info on board and gave it a try.

I posted my weblink in my sig here and on only 1 other forum site. I also setup a fb fanpage and a twitter account.

Before I went to sleep I posted a twitter message and also made a few posts on both of these forums.

When I woke my site was indexed... THANKYOU haha.

I have been reading up on I.M for about a month and a half, and this is the first time I've ever tried to make a website.

If this works for me then literally ANYONE can do it.

File indexing? I'm talking about brand new sites that have just been built, not posts.

It really shouldn't take that long to get indexed if you make back links from all the best quality sites anyway, you want to watch that you don't make 10,000 back links in one second though, and it's not a good idea to change that many back links at once, but then, I don't really know. I've never had to wait long to get quality pages indexed.

I tried this trick for my article that I posted at gather.com. After one month of having the URL in my signature, it is still not indexed.

      Why?
      As I said above:

"Remember the key is to have a decent amount of posts to increase your likelihood of being 'seen' by one of the spiders. Having less than 10 posts or however many you had at the time would probably take longer."

Are you sure? I would think it would get indexed without any help from anything really. Weird.

What means for you "decent amount of posts"? I have 50 posts and my sites are indexed in 10 days !
I think the title of this topic should be: "If you have 1500 post on a forum your site (signature link)" will be indexed in 2 hours ! No ??

Thanks for this, mate. However, would it be very detrimental to my SEO campaign if I do decide to remove these "sneaky punctuations" in my sig?

I just use Pligg sites. I'm not a fan of using a punctuation because that 'sneaky-ness' Google my not like. With Pligg, the link is there forever (with anchor text).

I have total respect for you John but this one I really don't get. Say you update your site/blog etc. every single day or even several times a day you really want to go in here at WF and change your sig every single time. Too risky for me (just a gut fee) and far too cumbersome.

Me - I go to WT and just do a Fetch Google - page and site in one go. The fastest I have a page/post indexed was 12 min, the slowest about 1 hour. I can live with 1 hour if that's the average
