If A backlink comes from an edu or gov domain from another country does that matter?

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me out with this question. I have been running an edu and gov forum backlink gig on fiverr and had 22 positive feedbacks on it. Today someone gave me my first negative feedback and for the reason put that it was because there were links on sites that were from A different country. Does that make any difference at all?

It is my belief that the only thing that matters is the extension of the domain and the pr and authority of the domain. The edu and gov domains that are from other countries that I supplied hold pr of 4-7. Do these backlinks carry any less weight because they are from another country?

I would think that it shouldn't matter what country the link comes from. Actually if anything it should give you some Google love on the UK or whatever country servers.

Only negative I can see is if the other country is in another language. The anchor text most likely won't count for you. The links should still be as normal though.

Don't fall into the trap that google gives extra consideration or rankings to .edu or .gov sites though. It doesn't.

You stated your sites had goog PR though. A lot of .edu/.gov sites do, but google doesn't care if it's .edu/.gov or .com.

Shouldn't be a big deal at all. After all, it's still a high-PR website in the eyes of Google. Although if you're trying to rank for a country-specific keyword (I have several sites like this), it definitely helps to get backlinks from sites in that country.
