Nofollow to contac page?

Should you use nofollow links to pages that you don't want to rank for like: about us page and contact page?

Have read somewhere that google doesn't like nofollow links because the see it like you don't trust your own content.

Have also read that in order to keep pagerank you should nofollow unimportant links....

So now I'm a little confused

Should you do it or not for SEO reasons?

    Hi @batistaa - A couple years ago using no follow tags to funnel your PageRank to the most important pages of your website was a very hip recommendation by SEOs.

    However, a little over a year ago Google's Matt Cutts came out and said that no follow doesn't preserve any PageRank to your own website and since then has even suggested that it might harm your site.

    At a very basic, Google intended no follows to be used to link to sites that you essentially don't trust to protect.

    I would recommend linking to your about and contact page like you would any other page on your website.... even though they may not be that high of a value from a search-engine traffic standpoint, they are good pages for users and I believe Google might use about/contact pages as a "signal" for a trustworthy website.

    As McBrett says, don't no-follow internal links. I'd simply make it no index:

      @batistaa I'd just let Google index your contact and about us pages.

      You'll capture a small (extremely small) amount of traffic with those pages being indexed. Also, someone might actually be searching for "your brand + contact info"... sure it's unlikely, but why not keep the pages in the index.
