Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me here.

About 18 months ago as a test case I threw up a site about paling fences in Melbourne.
It was on generic domain name that I had lying around and it is in a sub folder.

www.crappydomainname.com/paling-fencing for example.

I rank top 5 for numerous local keywords.

Correct me if I am wrong but if I set up a redirect that points to another site, will that site get all the rankings and backlinks that my current site has? I was thinking of contacting some contractors that are stuck on the 2nd or 3rd page of google and boosting them to top 5.

Am I correct here?

Cheers,

Craig

      Cool.

      next question.

It is a 5 page website.
Can I put the redirect of all 5 pages to his main page?
if so, does that mean his main page will rank for all the keywords I rank for now?

You will want to redirect the root of the site as shown below. Add this in your .htaccess file.

        Code:
        Redirect 301 / http://www.new-site.com/
I recommend that you don't create individual 301s for each page of the site, just redirect the root. You can also list the site with Google Webmaster Tools and there is a section in there where you can notify/configure your old site and let Google know you have now redirected the site using the 301.

Your new site will continue to get the juice from the previous domain name's link juice.
