Took The Plunge... Finally Going To Learn SEO!

OK guys, some of you may know me.. I totally suck at SEO and keyword research.

Anyway, I know of a product thats coming out soon and registered a domain with the exact terms.

Those terms get searched almost 30000 times a month and theres virtually NO direct competition. Although there are content sites out there which do use the term directly. I searched up it with "quotes" and got 53000 results.

OK, now since I am promoting a product, and not a website, how will I be able to make it rank on the first page (of Google)?

This means that the website will go directly to a sales page. Possibly with a video, but I am not counting on it just yet.

Now... I know that it won't have a lot of content on it, since it's just a sales page.

By the way if your answer breaks this down real easy I will throw in a free copy of one of my products .

I will let you know privately.

Thanks for any help Warriors.

- Dean

You can always write articles that relate to your product with anchor text for your keyword.

Yes, thanks Kevin. However, how will I know how many articles to write or how many links I need to get it to rank?

Remember it is an exact domain for the keywords.

    Thanks.

I have to agree with article writing. Link building is a good start and source of traffic to your site so that might include doing blog commenting or forum posting.

      Dean,

Congratulations on learning SEO. Learning Wordpress and SEO techniques in my opinion are the best things you can do if you plan on making money online.

I usually create a Wordpress site with 15 posts at about 400 words each. I also add about 15 outbound links for keywords you'd like to rank for.

If you're not getting the rankings you want, just continue writing content for it and continue adding backlinks until your site ranks. Remember that sometimes it can take awhile for your site to rank...

        Thanks for that.

I registered 2 domains, which both have the exact keywords I am going to target.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have:

        • 1 Which has articles and content on it, and point everything to the sales page.

        • And the other with the sales page only?

Sorry is these seem like silly ass questions.

Also, is it possible that instead of having a content site with articles on it, that I just send the articles straight to article directories with a link to the sales page?

If you would like further clarification I reply pretty quick.

Thanks for the help so far.

          Dean,

Do all of that and more. One of the keys to driving traffic is owning as many web properties as possible. Build multiple websites for the product, write multiple articles pointed directly to the product, blogs, videos, PDF's and any other creative ideas you come up with.

SEO isn't just about building backlinks. There are a ton of things you can do. The more you do, the better the chances of owning multiple spots in the top 10 of Google for your targeted keywords.

Remember that SEO for affiliate marketing is a numbers game. Some blogs and sites will stick and others won't rank. The more you do, the more chances you have to rank and drive traffic.

One thing that you can do is create a blog on your sub-domain like "blog.<your-website>.com" So in this way you can post articles/videos on your blog page and gain rankings in the Search Engines. Then when it hits the top spot or when the product is launched you can either REDIRECT that page to your salespage or you can put BANNERS/LINKS on that page itself.

As you have already said that you will be promoting other people's product, I recommend keeping a review page with a FREE report/product in exchange for the visitor's e-mail address and then redirect them to the sales page. So its a Win-Win-Win situation for you. Do let me know if you need any more clarification.

      Hi Dean,

I have a plan of attack for ya.

      #1 http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...marketing.html

Read about Press Releases. Google seems to rank them faster and higher than articles at article directories.

#2 PRsitelist.com - Free Press Release Distribution sites

Each day for 18 days send your one Press Release to the 18 sites listed. No charge.

#3 Turn that Press Release into A PDF and put it on the sites mentioned in the video inside this link. Instructions are provided on how to convert to PDF for free, also in video.

      http://themanicmarketer.com/specialr...Magnet/?p=scm1

If you still have trouble coming up with a good Press Release, scout around on this forum for a writer who specializes in them.

Make sure your keywords are at the beginning of the Press Release and also early in the first sentence.

Fire away if you have any more questions.

      All the best,
      Ewen

Fellow NZ'er on the Warrior Forum... That was a great plan. I will definately be doing that alongside general ranking efforts.

Thanks for that info. However, it's not in the internet marketing niche and "Launches" aren't really that groundbreaking for this one lol.

I forgot to mention that it doesn't have anything to do with the exact terms of the product.

      So for example...

      It's NOT productreview.com or bestproductname.com

Its more like general search terms...

      Example

      howtodoX.com

Content focused pages tend to do better in the search results...

So build your sales page and create content pages that pre-sell your offer...

Use the content pages as spider food, and wrap up the language to get people to your sales page...

That will increase the likelihood of getting in front of your audience in the search results, thereby giving you a chance to sell your product...

Then for your direct advertising, link to the sales page...

Good Luck DJ, I hope it goes well for you.

In the past I have tried to learn as much about SEO as I could. What I found though, is to become an expert at it, you really have to submerge yourself in it and keep on top of it, as it is a never ending game.

In the end, I gave up, because I found it was better off for me, if I had an understanding of the basic SEO principals, yet get advice off forums and experts if I needed more information or something specific.

    Good luck to you.

Create lots of great, relevant content (articles, video, press releases) that links to your site and distribute it to appropriate publishing sites. Then let the search engines know where your content has been published.
